Ruby – The Most Attractive Programming Language

I became a lawyer partly because I did not want to program computers full time for the rest of my career. However, a relatively new programming language has sucked me back in to the world of programming.

Ruby, more specifically, Ruby on Rails, is an amazingly intuitive and attractive programming language. It is being used to create many cutting-edge Web 2.0 websites, such as Twitter. It has powerful functions that take care of a lot of “programmer’s dirty work.”

The tools to create a Rails web application are free. For example, “Instant Rails” gives you all that you need on a Windows platform to get started. A simple, and free, text editor like Intype is all you need to write clean code.

I hope the higher education jumps on-board and starts teaching this to new programmers.  The world needs more cutting-edge, Web 2.0 programmers, and less Assembly Language programmers.
